Growing up scattered in different areas of Broward County, Florida, the artist Dèysha Symone spent many of her early years creatively dodging depression and her own suicidal tendencies.
Growing up in a single parent household, and bearing witness to loved ones’ substance abuse, surviving childhood molestation, and overall bouts of anxiety, she found her voice, place, and passion in writing lyrics at the age of 11 and getting involved with the arts in as many ways she could.
Whether that was singing her own solo renditions of gospel songs in the living room as a child or playing the flute, clarinet, or piano growing up in school; She found a happy medium to release all that pent up energy, and earnestly worked to rewrite her reality.
Dèysha believes that the sonic experience of enjoying composition and lyricism should be as cathartic, real, and relatable as possible. She believes that it’s her duty to spread more joy and understanding to the world; song by song, and lyric by lyric.
